Triathlon Swiss Championships Nyon 2013
August 4, 2013
Nyon, Switzerland - The Swiss Championships in Triathlon took place today with very warm conditions. Lake temperature 24 degrees and air temperature 35 degrees. This made it very clear that it was a non-wet suite race. The swim went very well, made it into the chase pack behind the pros and with the top 10 out of the water. On the bike in lap 1 of 4 the speed was very high and I lost about 20 sec on the leaders. Two laps later another chase pack came by, more or less legal, since this was a non-drafting race. The run in the heat was brutally hot, used every possibility to cool down. In the end I took 10th place, was ok in these conditions. The course was the same as every year and the conditions similar as every year. It's 12th years ago when I won the Swiss Champs as a Junior here - good memories. I am happy and healthy and looking forward to travel next week to Prachatice, CZ to the XTERRA CZ Champs. Weekend learning and reassurance that road-triathlon is nice, but XTERRA is much better :)
My best well wishes go out to my buddy Leandor Glardon, we came together out of the water, as many times before, but he unfortunately had a self-crash while getting on his bike and broke his hand.
Hope Leandro will get well soon and join the XTERRA Family next year again.
