Winter Duathlon Aarwangen - first win in 2015
January 12, 2015
Back to the roots is always fun and the winter duathlon race in Aarwangen is exactly such an event. The race is well done by the VC Aarwangen and the simplicity is what makes this race so enjoyable. A forest, four corners, grave road, a transition area made from two wooden post and a bar in-between and a starting line - voila you have a duathlon race course.
The race this year was much smaller in numbers compared to last year, but the fun level still was very high.
First up were 7 laps of biking - 12.5km, followed by 3 laps running - 4.5km. As usual the start was hard and fast and in the second turn some had trouble finding the line in the mud and on the gravel. I made it with Andreas and Lukas to the transition. The 4.5km run was quick and I was feeling good with the tempo run. In the last lap I could even catch up on the leading juniors which had an earlier start. Two of them fighting it out until to the finish line in a sprint.
The joy was toped with coffee and cake, a hot shower for me and a cold one for my new Cannondale FSi.
