Winter Cross-Duathlon Aarwangen
January 10, 2016
This event has become a training race I like to comeback every year. The organisation is very simple, but exactly this is what makes this event very nice.
The race numbers are from a ski race, the start line is just shown by hand and the race markers are little flags. The course is almost flat and with 12km mountain biking and 5km running a very quick training.
I came back as the defending winner and this year the format changed a little. The amateur racers got a little lead start and the elite followed a few minutes with the handicap. Winner is who ever can make it first to the finish. This year I had a smaller biking base then the year before and I could not get rid of my elite competitor. But with a quick transition and fast pace on the first of 3 running loops I got rid of him and I got closer to the one amateur racer ahead of me. In the second loop running I caught up to him and it took 5 tempo surges to then take the lead by myself. In the last lap I could then open a nice gap on the final racer and defended my victory.
Looking forward to come back next year. Thank you for the nice event VMC Aarwangen!
